My Story
Iâll never forget the day I realized my running years were changing. I knew I was meant to guide women like you through that same transition with strength and grace.
After years of chasing PRs, co-founding Another Mother Runner, and coaching thousands of women through every mile of motherhood and midlife, I felt a shift. I didnât want to stop movingâI just wanted to move differently. That realization sparked a new mission: helping women redefine what strength, endurance, and joy look like in every decade.
I traded one-size-fits-all programs for personalized coaching rooted in science, empathy, and laughter.
I started building plans that respected changing hormones, busy schedules, and sore kneesâand women started thriving again.
Turns out, sustainable fitness isnât about speed or streaks. Itâs about showing up with consistency, compassion, and community. Thatâs the foundation of everything I teach today.
When I launched Many Happy Miles, I wanted to bring the same camaraderie and encouragement that fueled Another Mother Runner into a new season of life. What started as a few women sharing workouts became a full-blown community of strength, accountability, and joy.
Now, through coaching, workshops, and The 27th Mile book, I help women reconnect with their power, on trails, in gyms, and in everyday life.
Because when you move your body, you move your confidence, your health, and your story forward.
Now I help women like you go from stuck and second-guessing to strong and self-assured.
Now itâs your turn: build sustainable strength and confidence so you can keep adventuringâon your terms. Iâm here to help you get there.
Whether your goal is to get back into training, lift without fear, or finally feel like yourself again, 1:1 coaching gives you the structure, accountability, and mindset support to make it happen with no pressure, guilt, or comparison.

âSo many titles exist about the joy of running or how to become a runner, but rarely has there existed a book honoring the choice and/or necessity to take leave of the sport. Not only does she pay homage to all that the sport has done for her and her community, but Dimity also takes time and space to honor her own body and spirit, inviting other longtime runners to offer their stories as well. When you are ready to make that decision, make sure to read this first.âÂ

âRunners tie their identities to their hobby like few others. It serves us wellâuntil it doesnât. Then what? The grief and loss are real when running is no longer an option. The 27th Mile is the gentle, kind, and sound advice we didnât know we needed in order to move on to the next phase of life.âÂ
âErin Strout, journalist and writer
âThe 27th Mile is far more truthful and helpful than that old runnersâ canard, âThere is no finish line.â In fact, we all stop running at some pointâwhether from burnout, injury, or aging. McDowell understands that we must grieve first, but then get going again. Sadness gives way to revival and new life-sustaining practices. Yes, you can.â
âAmby Burfoot, author, Boston Marathon winner, and longtime Runner's World editor
